The composer

Laszlo Kiss, applied photographer

I found my way to applied photography through a couple of unavoidable detours. I have been producing photographs and occasionally moving pictures as well, mainly commissioned work, for more than 30 years now. In addition to my daily assignments, I am greatly interested in analogue photography. This genre gives me pleasure and has produced a couple of photographs that are very dear to me.
Having been born in 1967 in Eastern Europe, I had to walk the way of the do-it-yourself photographers, but because of my fascination with the format, I am on top of the current techniques and methods.
I create everything from art and nudes to sports photographs, both in print and digital formats.
This controlled ease of versatility and the speed of information transmitted via photographs have matured a nostalgic defense mechanism in me, leading me to work with silver halide prints. My aim in “side production” is the creation of good exposure in film, attentiveness, and reduction that I achieve through mindful observation, and capturing “moments” in our daily microenvironment.
I am attempting to combine professional photographic methods with the humbleness of the profession, typical of the 60-70s, and by doing away with the current retro-trend romance with the help of hybrid photography techniques.
